We’re Engaged!

Just in case anyone hasn’t heard yet, Brittany and I are engaged. It all happened last Friday (December 26, 2008) on a trip to downtown Fredericksburg. We got a bite to eat and were supposed to walk up and down Caroline St to take a look at the Christmas lights while they were still up. Needless to say that because of the temperature we didn’t walk down Caroline St, instead we drove around looking at the shops and enjoying all the trees that were lit up for the Holidays. I was able to find a bench that we sat down on and talked for a while. I told Brittany that I had realized that I forgot to give her a Christmas present the day before, so I got up from the bench, went to my car and got a medium sized box from the trunk. I think at first Brittany had an idea of what it was but when she saw the size of the box she was confused. I gave her the box and she started to open it. When she saw the smaller box the ring was in I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. At first she didn’t know what to say/do except laugh and tell me “You did buy it!” So I told her that she needed to tell me yes or no. That is when she said yes.

We are still trying to figure out a date and what is next as far as getting started with all the planning but we will surely keep everyone up to date with all the details.

Christmas Eve

We took Zoe to the vet for her first wellness checkup this morning. Apparently it was considered a courtesy visit, so it didn’t cost the $100 or so we expected — Merry Christmas to us! Unfortunately Zoe has a benign tumor on her ear and they suggested that we have it removed at some point, which will cost upwards of $400, and definitely cause some discomfort for our little one. The other option with that type of tumor is to just wait it out — in most cases they eventually disappear. We’re going to think this over, but either way we need to keep an eye on her.

Now Chris & I are busy preparing for our Christmas Eve celebration. Our families will be visiting for food and festivities so the past few nights have been a frenzy of wrapping, creating, and cleaning. Everything is looking great now and we might even have enough time to watch a movie or take a nap before the fun begins. Chris has been a big help in preparing for the get together this year and I really appreciate all of his efforts. We can be a pretty good team when we put our minds to it.

Hello!

Brittany and I decided to create a website. With the way things are this day and age it is probably one of the easiest ways for friends and family to stay up to date on whats going on in our lives.

Just incase anyone doesn’t know, Brittany and I put in an application to adopt another dog. This time a Pit Bull. We were at Petco getting some food for the chinchillas and Bully Paws was there for adoption days. Bully Paws is an adoption organization in Fredericksburg that deals with “Bully Breeds.” We saw Dottie, an American Staffordshire Terrior, and fell in love with her instantly. Things didn’t work out for us with Dottie though and she got adopted out to another family. That wasn’t the end though, Bully Paws told us there was a Pit Bull at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter that they thought we would be interested in since we loved Dottie’s tempermant. We went down with the dogs to visit Zoe, pronounced Zoey, and they were right. We contacted Bully Paws and a home visit was scheduled for earlier this evening. We filled out the paperwork paid the adoption fee and will be picking Zoe tomorrow after work.
